In Paarl, South Africa, three brothers, Uzair, Diyaa-Udeen, and Yaghya, are quietly turning their passion for photography into a shared family success story. As the sons of one of Photo Start’s Regional Coordinators, they grew up watching their mother use photography and storytelling to empower young people in their community. Today, they’re carrying that legacy forward in their own unique ways.
Uzair has quickly become a well-known event photographer, taking on school concerts, community gatherings, and location shoots. He’s built such a strong reputation that people are now asking him to teach photography – a powerful reflection of his growth and dedication.
Diyaa-Udeen has developed a small business of his own, setting up pop-up portrait stalls at local events and sending customers their images directly via WhatsApp. His initiative has earned him steady income and the role of resident school photographer next year.
Yaghya, the youngest, contributes through his creative energy – supporting his brothers on shoots, performing at events, and learning hands-on as their team grows.
Together, the three are building a small but mighty family enterprise: sharing equipment, combining skills, and supporting one another as they take on weddings, confirmations, concerts, and more.
Their story is a reminder of what happens when opportunity meets passion – and how one teacher’s influence can shape a legacy across generations.
