This year, we focus on our students in South Africa and Bolivia who have shown what’s possible when young people are given tools, guidance, and a chance to create.
In Paarl, South Africa, three brothers – the sons of one of our own teachers – have grown from students to working photographers. They now shoot weddings, school concerts, run pop-up portrait stalls, and are even being asked to teach others. In the Fountain of Hope program, one of our former students is now a successful young entrepreneur supporting his family through photography.
In Bolivia, our Photo Start x Wikimedistas cohort is developing powerful storytelling skills using nothing more than their cell phones. Their creativity, commitment, and growing technical ability show how far passion can go with the right support.
